The Philosophy of "mens sana in corpore sano" - "a healthy mind in a healthy body" has long been a part of Prep education. Preppers strive for excellence in athletics as well as academics. In striving for success, the members of the Prep coaching staff endeavor to instill the qualities of leadership, loyalty, and sportsmanship. The student athlete learns to cope with winning and losing - to be humble in victory and proud in defeat.

Eric Gregg - Head Coach Phone: 267-939-3742

Eric GreggCoach Gregg enters his 4th season at the helm of the Prep Lacrosse program. In 2011 under Gregg, Prep Lacrosse finished as the Philadelphia Catholic League Champions, and for the first time in program history reached the PIAA state championship game. Since Gregg's arrival 21 student athletes have gone on to play college lacrosse, 7 earned All State honors, and 2 have been named All Americans.

In the summer of 2011 Gregg was appointed by United States Lacrosse, the sport’s governing body, as an evaluator for the 2012 United States Mens Under 19 lacrosse team.  Gregg has also served as a coach for the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association All Star Recruiting Showcase in 2009, 2010, and 2011 which features the best sophomore and junior high school players in Eastern Pennsylvania.   Gregg and the Prep Lacrosse staff were awarded the 2009 George A. Kruse Memorial Award for Sportsmanship presented by the Greater Philadelphia Lacrosse Officials Association.

Prior to his current stint at St. Joseph's, Gregg served as an assistant boys lacrosse coach at the William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia and Lower Merion High School in Ardmore.

As Coach and Co-Founder of Head Heart Hustle (HHH) Lacrosse, Gregg provides private lacrosse training lessons and team lacrosse training.  HHH Lacrosse also operates a U15 boy’s lacrosse team called Dukes HHH Lacrosse Club, in partnership with Dukes Lacrosse Club.

Lacrosse, Education, Attitude, Perseverance, and Success (LEAPS) was established as a 501 c 3 non-profit in 2008 by Gregg to spearhead the effort in the city of Philadelphia to grow the sport of lacrosse. Since its inception LEAPS has taught lacrosse to 15,000 youth and counting in Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey, and Wilmington Delaware.  LEAPS also consults for school districts looking to start lacrosse programs, including the School District of Philadelphia, and Camden (NJ) City Public Schools.

Ultimately, Gregg is a lifelong learner who aims to change young lives the way his was by introducing lacrosse to kids who have yet to see the game. Past coaches serve as inspiration and constantly remind Eric that an attitude of gratitude is paramount to success.
